Betsey Johnson Inspired 21st Birthday

For the past few weeks I have been quiet on the net, not much posting on social media or anything. You know there has to be a reason. I had to get all of my work out of the way in order to help with my nieces birthday party, not just any party, but her 21st birthday. Zhane adores fashion designer, Betsey Johnson and so do I. So, when we came up with this theme I couldn't wait to start brainstorming. Her mom, Hosanna is an event planner and clothing designer. After putting our thoughts together, we created one helluva party experience.

These pics do the entire party NO justice. I wish you could see the whole house from the entry way. There was a wow face from everyone who walked in.

I inserted SIP drink flags in the bottom glasses from Liddabits Design Shop

Because, Zhane wanted to spend her birthday with family and friends instead of going out to party like a normal 21 year old (she actually did it the night before), we thought it would be cute to bring the club scene to her. We moved all the furniture out of the living room and added highboys, cabs and chairs. There was a disco ball, balloons, stripes and cheetah print, cotton candy, lots of lollipops, and gumballs. Almost every piece of candy was pink and Hosanna found the stripe, cheetah, and pink linens from a local fabric store.

Leah, my little 3 year old, cut and mixed custom matching confetti to go on tables. Other custom items included drink coasters, a custom hashtag banner, and custom photo prop sticks with hearts, kisses, and XOXO's.

The food was delicious. My brother threw down on the grill. There was way more food than this by the way. One big huge spread throughout the kitchen, that didn't last long.

Zhane also shares her birthday with her best friend Ivory who was born a day before her. They've been friends since 9. That meant 2 cakes!

Zhane's mom and little sister bought a lot of frames from the thrift store and spray painted them to use as a backdrop. (Photos by James Neely of Chicago, IL)
